One arrested, three stolen vehicles recovered

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service arrested one man and recovered three vehicles which were reported stolen.

According to this press release, Atiba Defreitas, of San Juan, is expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate today, charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) continues to see successes in detecting reports of motor vehicle larceny and stolen vehicle recoveries, with the recent arrest of one man and the recovery of three vehicles which were reported stolen.

ATIBA DEFREITAS, 28, of San Juan, is expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate today, charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.

The accused was arrested by officers following a report of motor vehicle larceny which occurred in the Wallerfield district, on June 8th, 2022. He was charged with the offence on Saturday 11th June, 2022.

Investigations were spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Paponette and supervised by Insp. (Ag.) Ramsarran.

Meanwhile, officers of the Northern-Eastern Division recovered one white Nissan Tiida motor vehicle during an anti-crime exercise conducted between 4 am and 7 am, on Sunday 12th June 2022.

During the exercise, officers of the Morvant Criminal Investigations Department, received a report of robbery with aggravation and motor vehicle larceny in the St. Joseph district.

The officers proceeded to the Malick district, where they carried out a search which resulted in the vehicle being found.

Investigations are ongoing.

The exercise was spearheaded by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Maharaj, Supt.(Ag.) Ramjohn and ASP Pariman.

And in a separate exercise, following a report of motor vehicle larceny which occurred on Saturday 11th June 2022, in the Arima district, officers found a beige Hyndai Tucson motor vehicle which was reported stolen, in the Talparo district yesterday, Sunday 12th, June, 2022.

Investigations are also ongoing into this matter.

Persons are reminded that it is an offence to be in possession of a stolen vehicle, receive a stolen vehicle or receive items from a stolen vehicle.
